Less than most people expect. A topical numbing cream is applied 20–30 minutes before the procedure. Most clients describe it as mild pressure or light scratching — similar to eyebrow threading. Priyanka refreshes the numbing cream mid-session so you stay comfortable throughout. Brow sessions at Golden Ratio take 2–2.5 hours; lip blush takes 2–3 hours. Lip procedures are slightly more sensitive, but most clients manage it without difficulty.

Most healthy adults are. During your free consultation, Priyanka reviews your health history and skin type before recommending any procedure. PMU is generally not suitable for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, on blood-thinning medications, prone to keloid scarring, or have active skin conditions like eczema in the treatment area. A patch test is done on every client at Golden Ratio, regardless — it screens for pigment sensitivities and is included at no charge.

Almost always two: the initial session and a mandatory touch-up at 6–8 weeks. The touch-up is not optional — it's when Priyanka assesses how your skin retained the colour and perfects any areas that healed unevenly. The final result is only truly visible after the touch-up, which is why it's built into the process at Golden Ratio. Most clients return annually after that for a maintenance top-up.

Indian skin is typically warm-toned and ranges from dry to oily. For oily skin — common in Bengaluru's humidity — ombre powder brows retain pigment more reliably than microblading. Combination brows are a good middle ground. Priyanka also specialises in dark lip neutralisation and lip blush, procedures designed specifically for naturally pigmented or darker lip tones common among Indian clients. For brows, warm brown-taupe pigments tend to look the most natural against Indian complexions.

Permanent makeup (PMU) is the umbrella term for all cosmetic tattooing techniques — microblading is just one of them. Microblading uses a handheld manual blade to draw fine, hair-like strokes and works best on normal to dry skin. Priyanka has 6+ years of experience across the full range of PMU techniques and during your consultation will recommend the right approach for your skin type and the look you want. Other techniques include ombre powder brows, combination brows, lip blush, and dark lip neutralisation.

Days 1–2: Redness, mild swelling, and darker colour — all normal and expected.

Days 3–7: Peeling and flaking begins. Do not pick or scratch — it pulls pigment out.

Weeks 1–2: Colour may look patchy or lighter than expected while the skin sheds.

Weeks 4–6: True healed colour emerges. Full pigment settling takes 4–6 weeks, not 2.

Priyanka provides a detailed aftercare kit and written instructions after every session.

Do: Keep the area dry for 24 hours; apply the healing ointment provided; stay out of direct sun.

Avoid: Swimming, saunas, gym sessions, makeup on the treated area, and picking — for at least two weeks.

Common and temporary: redness, tenderness, and swelling in the first 24–48 hours. Colour looks noticeably darker in week one and then lightens considerably — this is normal healing, not a mistake.

Rare: allergic reaction to pigment (the patch test at Golden Ratio is specifically designed to catch this), infection if aftercare isn't followed, or uneven colour retention corrected at the touch-up.
